“I became a child and adolescent psychiatrist because every child deserves the opportunity to thrive emotionally, socially and academically. Mental health challenges can be complex and very difficult to manage. However, with the right support, youth can develop the tools needed to navigate life with confidence. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers young people and their families to better understand their mental health, along with improving self-confidence and building resilience.”
Dr. Alexander takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating and treating her patients by taking the time to address their presenting symptoms, as well as attributing factors to their presentation, such as home life, school/work environment, primary relationships, cultural/religious concerns, and other pertinent areas of their lives. She also has a strong interest in promoting psychoeducation of her patients and their families as it relates to their various diagnoses and options for treatment. Dr. Alexander strives to create a safe and supportive environment where children, teens and their families feel heard and respected. Whether providing supportive therapy, parental guidance, school advocacy, medication management, or psychiatric evaluations, she is committed to helping her patients achieve meaningful progress and improved well-being.
Dr. Alexander is a psychiatrist at the Northeast Clinic, where she specializes in Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other mental health concerns. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and utilizes a range of evidence-based treatment approaches to support her patients. Dedicated to ongoing professional development, she remains up to date with the latest research and best practices in child and adolescent psychiatry to ensure high-quality, effective care for her patients. Dr. Alexander attended Wayne State University for undergraduate studies and medical school. She also completed her adult psychiatry residency training and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at University of Michigan.
