Katie attended Aquinas College for two years and transferred to Western Michigan University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to working at Pine Rest, she was an outpatient therapist at Barry County Community Mental Health for five years.
Katie works with adults and is accepting and comfortable working with the LGBTQ+ population. She is a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor and has treated individuals with a variety of mental health and substance abuse issues. Katie is trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and she is a part of the Caledonia DBT program. She has experience with both individual and group therapy settings.
Katie is from Southwest Michigan and currently lives in that area. She has two young daughters and a cat named Stevie Nicks. In her free time, she enjoys playing and listening to music, birdwatching, nature, and doing art projects with her kids.
Katie is passionate about her job as a therapist. She believes therapy is a powerful tool that helps people gain skills to face life’s difficulties in healthy ways. She feels it is important to help people recognize the potential within themselves.
