Katie attended Aquinas College for two years before transferring to Western Michigan University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s in clinical mental health counseling. Prior to working at Pine Rest, she was an outpatient therapist at Barry County Community Mental Health for five years.
Katie is trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She has experience in both individual, couple’s and group therapy settings. She is also part of the LGBTQ+ specialty group at Pine Rest.
Katie is from Southwest Michigan and currently lives in that area. She has two young daughters and three cats named Stevie, Bowie and Ozzy. In her free time, she enjoys playing and listening to music, birdwatching, nature, and art projects with her kids.
Katie is passionate about her job as a therapist. She believes therapy is a powerful tool to help people learn skills and face life’s difficulties in healthy ways. She is committed to providing a safe and accepting therapeutic environment that allows people to recognize their potential and fosters personal growth.
