“Suffering is an inevitable part of life. However, walking alone on the journey of suffering can be overwhelmingly painful. I became a therapist so that people can have a compassionate companion on their journey of hardship and healing. I am committed to understanding the road that has led you to starting therapy. Together, we can decide the direction you want to go and help you get there. I want to give you tools to overcome life’s roadblocks and celebrate every step of progress you make. My mission is to help you know your worth and find purpose and meaning in your life.”
Katie strives to create a healing environment by providing compassion and a sense of hope, and by empowering clients to make positive changes in their lives. She takes a collaborative approach and adapts to the needs of the client. She believes in a “both and” philosophy where people can both reflect on the past and build toward the future. Therapy can both acknowledge progress and set goals for new growth. Feedback is welcome and the client is at the center of treatment.
Katie’s clinical techniques utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) paired with a variety of other evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness-Based Practices, and Trauma-Informed Treatments. She is passionate about using ACT to help clients understand where they are stuck and find ways to live more purposefully according to their values.
Katie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She graduated from the University of Michigan with both her graduate degree in Social Work and undergraduate degree in Psychology. She has provided mental health services in multiple settings including school social work and residential treatment since 2014, and has been a part of Pine Rest since 2021. Katie is a member of the Eating Disorder and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) specialty groups, communities that she is especially passionate about serving.
