My Christian faith is essential to my understanding of the world and living within it. I am often reminded how our beliefs about ourselves, others, the world, and God reach the innermost parts of the heart and affect us each day. My faith also undergirds how I think about change, growth, and healing within the therapeutic relationship. I have witnessed what a great resource the spiritual dimension of life can be for healthy thoughts, words, and actions.
I seek to be sensitive to my client’s comfort around integrating their beliefs and spiritual commitments in therapy. Not everyone wants to talk about their spirituality in therapy. Even so, I believe true healing comes from Christ, and we draw strength and wisdom through the work of the Holy Spirit. To that end, my prayer is that my clients might experience peace, hope, mercy, and love in their lives.
