“I feel fortunate to be a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. My work allows me to call upon my inner child so that I can better learn the stories of my patients. I remember the challenges of growing up and trying to find my way in the world. This helps me to connect and empathize with the struggles I hear about from my patients.”
Dr. Stearns has an approach which is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. He tries to meet each young person where they are, with curiosity and a touch of humor.
Although primarily trained to provide medication management, Dr. Stearns is knowledgeable about therapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Stearns is a board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has been working in Pine Rest’s outpatient clinic since 2016. He is also involved in supervising psychiatry trainees. He earned his Bachelor’s and Medical Degrees at Michigan State University, followed by residency and fellowship training through the University of Michigan.
