“The most rewarding part of my work is helping clients find meaning and purpose amidst life’s challenges. I am deeply committed to walking alongside my clients, providing compassionate support, and equipping them with tools to proactively address their mental health. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore their struggles, gain new insights, and achieve lasting growth.”

Jean is passionate about providing educational and therapeutic services which equip individuals, couples and families to effectively address issues and find healthy ways to progress toward their goals. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, and narrative therapy.

Through sessions with Jean, clients may gain valuable insights into their thoughts and behaviors, develop effective coping strategies, and enhance relationship skills. These sessions often involve exploring current thought and reaction patterns, working together to cultivate new skills, and creating practical strategies to integrate what has been learned into daily life.

Jean has provided outpatient therapy services since 1995 when she earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa. She has worked for Pine Rest since 1997. She currently serves as manager of the Telehealth Clinic, director of the Employee Assistance Program and is also a Pine Rest outpatient regional director. Jean earned a BA in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1985 and was an elementary and junior high teacher for 10 years prior to beginning her career as a therapist. She also worked as a dialysis social worker in a hospital setting.

Jean participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches and ministries to services from Pine Rest as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.

Jean Holthaus participates in the Diversity Collective.
