“I became a therapist because I’m deeply drawn to the process of change—how people grow, heal and make meaning through the most challenging times in their lives. I believe that even in moments of pain or uncertainty, there is potential for clarity, resilience and transformation. It is a privilege to sit with people during these vulnerable moments and support them in finding their way forward. Therapy, at its best, is about helping people reconnect with their strength and sense of self.”

Jake works exclusively with adults and specializes in trauma recovery. Whether you’re dealing with the effects of a single event or the impact of longer-term, complex experiences, Jake offers a grounded, compassionate approach to help you process the past and find relief in the present. Trauma work often involves building safety, developing new ways to manage distress, and gradually making sense of what happened—at a pace that feels right for you. In addition to trauma, Jake regularly works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, major life changes, and grief. These issues are often intertwined, and Jake approaches each person’s story with care, curiosity, and a respect for the complexity of your experience. Jake strives to create a space where you can speak honestly, feel supported, and explore what healing looks like on your terms.

Jake’s therapeutic style integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means focusing on present-day challenges and skills, exploring deeper emotional patterns from your past, and looking at how your values can guide meaningful change. Effective therapy adapts to the individual, and Jake is committed to working in a way that feels collaborative, respectful, and attuned to your needs.

Jake completed his PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Louisville. He has been practicing therapy full-time since 2014 and has been with Pine Rest since 2019, most recently as a fully licensed psychologist at the Christian Counseling Center.
