I was drawn to this work because I’m passionate about helping people navigate grief, transitions and relationship challenges in ways that foster healing and growth. My goal is to walk alongside my clients as they rediscover what it means to live with purpose and joy.”

She takes a collaborative, person-centered approach to therapy, working together with each client to set goals and move toward meaningful change. She values authenticity and strives to create a therapeutic relationship rooted in trust, compassion, and respect.
Heather uses a variety of evidence-based strategies tailored to each client’s needs. Her therapeutic toolkit includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, strengths-based counseling, and trauma-informed care. She adapts her methods to align with each client’s personality, learning style and unique situation. Clients working with Heather often find greater self-awareness, improved coping skills, and a stronger sense of identity. Therapy sessions may include reflective conversation, skill-building exercises, and actionable strategies that support clients between sessions. She encourages active participation and invites feedback to ensure that sessions remain aligned with clients’ goals and needs.
Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Pine Rest’s Portage Clinic. She earned her undergraduate degree in education from Western Michigan University and her master’s degree in counseling from Cornerstone University. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including school-based services, medical clinics and private practice.
