Gale Dunn Volkerding, LMSW, ACSW
Gale Dunn Volkerding is a Licensed Master of Social Work with over 35 years of experience in work with children, adolescents, and families, as well as adults.
She earned a BA degree in Social Work from Valparaiso University in 1973. A Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University was earned in 1978. She earned the certification of Spiritual Director after three years of training through the Dominican Center at Marywood in May 2009 and is a practicing spiritual director.
Her professional experience includes research and practical outpatient work at the Family Health Center in Kalamazoo, and outpatient clinical therapy at the Child Guidance Center in Battle Creek, as well as inpatient work on the preadolescent unit at Pine Rest and over 30 years in services to children, adolescents, and families, as well as adults in the outpatient clinic at Pine Rest. She has been a part of the School Consultation Program through Pine Rest for over 25 years.
Areas of expertise include working with children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder/attention deficit disorder (ADHD/ADD), childhood behavior problems, family, parent and child issues, grief and loss, spiritual/religious issues, mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, and sexual abuse relating to children and adults.
