Cherie Keating, LMSW
Ms. Keating received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University and then received her Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University. During her time in graduate school she worked as a school social worker and also within a domestic violence shelter. She has worked previously as a child protection social worker in the United Kingdom and feels this has helped round out her practice as a clinician. She has also worked as a therapist within a school district providing therapy to students and their families.
Cherie enjoys working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents. She likes working with those experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, difficult behaviors, grief/bereavement, survivors of abuse, and those on the autism spectrum. She utilizes a lot of Cognitive-Behavioral and mindfulness/awareness principles within her practice. When working with children she often integrates forms of play and games to teach skills and explore experiences.
Cherie prides herself on being a young professional in this field and being successful in her practice thus far. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids and is excited to settle into life here with her husband. Outside of the clinical setting Cherie enjoys coaching volleyball, traveling, and spending time with her family and obnoxiously large dog.
