I was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area. I graduated from East Kentwood High School and graduated with both undergraduate and graduate social work degrees from Grand Valley State University.
Previously I worked as a school social worker with students ages from 5 to 26 in a variety of classroom settings including public schools, alternative education juvenile detention and the Kent County Jail. I also worked as licensed practitioner on a locked residential unit.
I am passionate about advocating for underserved populations. A proverb I live by: “You give a person a fish, you feed them today; you teach them to fish, you feed them for a lifetime.”
