Rebecca (Becky) is a licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the social work field with individuals in an outpatient setting since 2001. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, and a master’s degree from Grand Valley State University. Becky is nationally certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and has an extensive training background in trauma and mental health. In addition to Becky’s clinical work, she teaches trauma courses at Western Michigan University.
Becky’s clinical foundation and framework is built on trauma informed principles and approaches that guide her therapeutic practice. Promotion of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and social justice are important to Becky. She works with a client centered (the client “drives the bus” in session), and empowerment approach. She believes that it is an honor and privilege to be a part of the therapeutic process with each unique individual she serves. She is enthusiastic about providing a safe space and actively walking alongside individuals as they navigate and process past and present strengths and challenges. Her favorite parts of the therapeutic process are providing education on the body and brain connection, assisting individuals in understanding themselves on a deeper level, getting to the root of the issues at hand, honoring resiliency, survival, and coping strategies and celebrating the many baby steps and successes that lead to long lasting change.
In her free time, Becky enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and fur baby! She enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, yoga, interior design, DYI projects, and holistic remedies!
