Anu Allington, LMSW earned both her Bachelor’s in Political Science and Psychology and Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Anu has been working in the social work field since 2004. She spent many years working in the field of medical social work, primarily with Pediatric Cancer patients and their families. She then transitioned to child/adolescent and adult psychiatric work, working both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. She most recently worked at Spectrum Health as an outpatient Psychotherapist and with those hospitalized for Behavioral Health stabilization and treatment. She previously worked in Inpatient Admissions at Pine Rest.
Anu specializes in working with adolescents and adults who have been diagnosed with Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Bipolar Disorder, and with those wishing to address relationship or attachment issues. She also has extensive experience in the area of grief and loss. Her primary theoretical orientations are Psychodynamic and Social Learning Theory, and she utilizes treatment techniques from CBT, DBT, ACT, Interpersonal Therapy, and Family Systems.
Anu utilizes a collaborative approach, and assists clients in accomplishing goals, gaining understanding of core emotions, identifying and addressing barriers to change, and clarifying values and strengths. Her goal is to partner with you and support you as you work toward achieving meaningful and sustainable change.
