Anu Allington, LMSW received her Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and Psychology and Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Anu has been working in the social work field since 2004. She spent many years working in the field of medical social work in California and Michigan, primarily with Pediatric Cancer patients and their families. She then transitioned to child/adolescent and adult psychiatric work, working both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. She most recently worked at Spectrum (now Corewell) Health as an outpatient Psychotherapist, and with those hospitalized for Behavioral Health stabilization and treatment.
Anu specializes in working with adolescents and adults who have been diagnosed with Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, and ADHD, and with those wishing to address relationship or attachment issues. She also has extensive experience in the area of family and couples’ counseling, and enjoys working with family units of all types and configurations. Her primary theoretical orientations are Psychodynamic and ACT, and she utilizes treatment techniques from CBT, DBT, and Interpersonal Therapy. She also has a clinical interest and skills in Radically-Open DBT.
Anu utilizes a collaborative and compassionate approach, and assists clients in navigating relationships, gaining understanding of core emotions and attachments, identifying and working through barriers to change, and clarifying values and strengths. Her goal is to collaborate with you and support you as you work toward achieving meaningful and sustainable change and growth.
