“I believe that love and acceptance are fundamental human needs. In my practice, I’ve seen how a non-judgmental, open and curious space can empower clients to make meaningful, lasting change. I take a collaborative approach, working with individuals to develop their own coping strategies and strengthen their support systems. As a social worker, I take a systems-based perspective, meaning I consider not just what is happening on an individual level, but how larger systems like family, school or work, community, and broader society are impacting a person’s wellbeing. My goal is to create a space where every person feels seen, heard and supported in their healing journey.”
Amanda typically takes a non-directive approach and works alongside her clients to direct treatment toward their goals. However, in a crisis or if someone needs help with insight or developing certain skills, Amanda will be more directive. She works to provide a curious, safe, warm and inviting space to explore and process a client’s experiences and emotions and develop mechanisms of coping with life’s challenges.
Amanda utilizes an integrative approach, utilizing attachment-based theories, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, Supportive Psychotherapy, and Psychodynamic models. She enjoys working with a variety of ages and has a specialty working with children, adolescents and individuals experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD).
Amanda is a fully licensed social worker. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Child Development from Central Michigan University. She then worked in a research setting at the University of Michigan before attaining her Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University.
