Alyssa is a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker, serving the adolescent and adult population. She began working at Pine Rest in 2016 prior to finishing her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Grand Valley State University. She received her master’s in Social Work from Western Michigan University where she specialized in trauma across the lifespan.
Alyssa has experience working in both hospital and residential based programs with adolescents and adults who struggle with severe and persistent mental health symptoms and require increased levels of structure, support, and treatment.
Alyssa uses a combination of modalities in her practice including principles and concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and behavior modification. She understands the impact that adverse and traumatizing events can have on the mind as well as the body. Utilizing various sensory, relaxation, and mindfulness techniques Alyssa seeks to work alongside individuals to facilitate the growth and healing of the whole person.
