Alena is a Licensed Master of Social Work who enjoys working with children and adults of all ages. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by her Master of Social Work. Alena has worked with children and adults in individual and group settings, including veteran groups, trauma specific individual counseling, and telehealth sessions.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Alena worked at Pine Rest working as a psychiatric technician in several residential treatment programs. This experience allows her to have a unique insight in the care required for those struggling with persistent mental or developmental diagnoses.
Alena has pushed herself to find ways to provide the best care for her clients. She utilizes techniques from both Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She finds her passion in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, those who have experienced trauma, and those who struggle with chronic suicidal ideation.
