Consultation Liaison Plus

Reduce length of stay for behavioral health patients in emergency and inpatient non-psychiatric care

The Behavioral Health Consultation Liaison Plus (CL+) program addresses the needs of behavioral health patients in emergency and medical/surgical departments by providing psychiatric assessment, consultation and care navigation via video and phone interactions. Services are comprehensive and can be custom-tailored to your specific needs.

With the CL+ program, Pine Rest psychiatrists are available to help your clinicians assess behavioral health patients in your hospital and will assist with symptom management until your patient is discharged.

Once engaged, CL+ staff will work diligently to find an appropriate destination for the patient—whether that’s a facility within your network, a Pine Rest facility/practice or an independent organization.

How Clplus Works

Frequently Asked Questions

Consultation LiaisonPlus, or CL+ for short, is a tele-consultation program provided by Pine Rest psychiatrists and Masters level mental health clinicians.

Our psychiatrists can provide psychiatric evaluations and consultations via video to your patient. They are also able to provide consultation to your team via phone.

Our Masters level clinicians can conduct behavioral health level of care assessments, as well as provide care navigation to ensure your patient gets to the right resource or level of care to be discharged.

Our CL+ clinicians are available to take consult requests between 1:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., 365 days per year. Psychiatry is also available 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., however, Child and Adolescent psychiatry is only available 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

When a consult or assessment is ordered, we can typically see the patient within an hour.

Our clinicians are available from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. for scheduling purposes. Your team simply faxes us a face sheet, consult order, and calls our service line. Our clinician will review the need and schedule a visit when the next appropriate provider is free, whether that is a psychiatrist or Masters level clinician.

Our clinicians and psychiatrists will document CL+ encounters directly in your record. We strive for timely documentation and will provide a handoff between our provider and your team to ensure you can act quickly to further the care of your patient.

Our clinicians will document CL+ encounters in your electronic record so that you can bill and collect on the behavioral health visits. Most insurance plans reimburse for telemedicine visits. Other billing options can be discussed if needed.

Our providers can apply for privileges with your hospital. We are also able to credential by proxy if your hospital allows.

Our CL+ service can be accessed by many current telemedicine carts or tablets. If you don’t currently have equipment to provide telemedicine services, we will help you select the right equipment for your hospital.

We use a HIPAA compliant video conferencing software to deliver our CL+ services. We will provide access to the software at no cost to your hospital.

Our team can see patients of all ages.
