Grand Rounds Presentation
This introductory session will discuss autoimmune encephalitis. Autoimmune encephalitis is an inflammatory brain disorder where the immune system targets neuronal antigens, often leading to seizures as a prominent symptom. This presentation explores the spectrum of seizure types associated with different antibody-mediated autoimmune encephalitides. It highlights diagnostic challenges, including EEG findings and neuroimaging correlations. Timely immunotherapy can significantly improve outcomes, emphasizing the importance of early recognition. Case examples and recent research will be used to illustrate key clinical and management principles.
