Inpatient Treatment for Dual Diagnosis

Redwood Unit providing integrated treatment for individuals diagnosed with both mental health and substance use disorders

Pine Rest’s Redwood Unit offers a unique psychiatric inpatient hospital experience dedicated to the treatment and care of adults with a co-occurring substance use and mental health disorder. One of only a few inpatient psychiatric facilities in the country fully integrating treatment for mental illness and substance use, the 22-bed Redwood Unit employs best practices to meet these patients’ complex needs. Research has shown that treating both conditions together consistently provides better outcomes.

The 20,000 square foot wing includes four single barrier-free rooms, six single rooms and six semi-private rooms. The unit is tailored specifically to meet the needs of adults whose symptoms require 24/7 care in a setting that provides safety and security during crisis stabilization.

Our collaborative multidisciplinary team provides group-based programming, oversight by board-certified psychiatrists and partnership with outside providers to develop a treatment plan that best suits each individual’s needs. After care plans are designed to continue the healing process. The average length of inpatient stay is 8 to 10 days.
