Older Adult Services
Older adults may receive treatment at a 20-bed, acute care geropsychiatric
inpatient unit on Pine Rest’s main campus in Cutlerville.
Older Adult Inpatient Services specializes in treatment for dementia
with
acute behavioral problems, as well as psychiatric disorders like
depression, anxiety, and psychosis. The goal is to stabilize
the individual's symptoms.
• Assessment and short-term treatment focused on stabilization of behaviors.
• Individualized treatment planning.
• Multi-disciplinary treatment team with expertise in dementia and acute behavioral disorders.
• Medication management.
• Individual, group, and family therapy.
• Recreational, occupational and physical therapy.
• Assistance with reintegration into home or long-term care setting.
• Most insurances accepted.
Program Criteria
To be admitted to this inpatient geropsychiatry program, the senior
would be in an acute crisis requiring immediate services, with clear
intent to harm or
an imminent danger to self or others. They may have hallucinations, paranoid
thinking, suicidal ideation, or be intentionally hurting themselves. This program
would also address aggression, agitation, and/or sexually inappropriate behaviors
that are frequent and unmanageable in the current setting. Patients in this
program would receive comprehensive assessment and medication adjustment.
