Welcome to the Mulder West Unit of
Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
Our primary concern is the well-being of the patient.
Here are a few guidelines to ensure your visit will be
pleasant for you, the person you are visiting, and our other patients.
Visitation
Hours
Monday – Friday: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00
p.m.
Weekends & Holidays: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 8:00
p.m.
- Visitations are not allowed outside
of the stated visitation times without permission.
- Family members who are ill are discouraged
from visitation. If a visitor has an active infection, nursing staff
may request they leave.
- Visitors must be 12 years of age
or older to visit on the unit without a physicians order.
Smoking
For the health of our patients, staff and visitors, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is a Tobacco Free Environment, both indoors and outdoors, beginning July 1, 2008. This applies to all Pine Rest property and all service locations, and is applicable to all staff, visitors, and patients.
Pine Rest is dedicated to assisting patients who wish to quit smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy is offered to patients to help alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms.
Education materials and information for smoking cessation are available.
Matches, lighters and all tobacco products will be stored with patients’ personal possessions and returned upon discharge. Visitors should leave all tobacco products in their vehicles.

Meals
Meal times are as follows:
Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
No visits are allowed during meals.
Due
to health purposes, food may not be stored in patient’s rooms.
Since snacks are provided and patients may help themselves to them, we
ask that families not bring snacks on a regular basis. If you do bring
snacks, anything left over must be taken along with you when you leave.
Morning Wake-Up Calls
Morning wake-up call
is at 7:30 a.m. We encourage our patients to come to the dining room
by 8:00 a.m. for breakfast. We also encourage our patients to be dressed
and ready to attend their first class at 9:15 a.m.
Classes / Evening & Weekend Classes
Our
classes are scheduled at various times throughout the day. Patients are
encouraged to attend their scheduled classes and unit activities. A schedule
of classes will be posted in the hallway or you may request one from
the staff.
Evening and weekend activities are
informal and provided by nursing staff.
Personal Belongings
We ask that personal
belongings be marked to assure their return if misplaced. We encourage
the patient to bring clothing along for a week, including
outerwear. We also encourage
the patient to do their own laundry but we will assist as needed.
Important Information For the Patient
Pine Rest is not responsible for
the loss of any items, so please remember to mark your belongings.
We encourage you to talk with
your psychiatrist, case manager, and nursing staff about your medication.
It is important that you know and understand
them.
Please bring along a list
of your medications, as well as the dosage & times
you take them.
If at any time you are having
strong thoughts of harming yourself please tell us. We are concerned
for your safety & want
to protect you. Such items as ties, belts, and laces will be removed
upon admission and kept in safe storage.
Off Campus Appointments
We provide transportation to take patients
to and from off-campus appointments.
