The Center for Psychiatric Residential Services
(CPRS) is a 60-bed program for adolescents, age 12 to 18. Those receiving
treatment
at CPRS have experienced significant mental health issues. Referrals are
accepted based on age and behavioral concerns.
This program provides a safe environment in which residents can develop
coping skills and behavioral changes. The supportive atmosphere helps
adolescents develop relationship skills appropriate for their return to
their family or for the family they will parent as adults. They learn
social skills to help them interact positively in relationships with peers
and adults. Residents attend Kentwood Public Schools and receive homework
help. Staff teach job-seeking and job-keeping skills. Residents are provided
with a variety of activities on-campus and in the community to create
appropriate skills and to encourage goal achievement.
CPRS Treatment Philosophy
The mission of the Center for Psychiatric Residential Services is
to help residents internalize appropriate behaviors and choices by developing
a more healthy self-concept and through skill building, utilizing the
support of family, community resources, and the Pine Rest therapeutic
staff.
