Sarah Muench comes to Pine Rest after working in rural and suburban youth ministry for eight years. She earned her undergraduate degree from Colorado College and her master’s degree from Wheaton College in Illinois. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College.
Sarah particularly enjoys working with adolescents (ages 12-22) and rural populations. Her areas of clinical expertise and interest include but are not limited to depression, grief, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, stress management, family conflict, communication skills, parenting skills, behavioral problems, and spiritual issues.
Sarah’s background in youth ministry gives her added experience in integrating spirituality into therapy and developmental life tasks. She is willing to engage clients where they are in their spiritual walk – including recognizing their level of desire to incorporate spiritual issues into their therapeutic journey, acknowledging the spiritual influences and desires that impact their lives, and utilizing spiritual strengths to increase emotional health. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys hiking, geocaching, and reading.
