Rest Mission Statement is the following: "Pine Rest Christian
Mental Health Services is called to express the healing ministry of Jesus
Christ by providing behavioral health services with professional excellence,
Christian integrity, and compassion." All staff and volunteers are
asked to proclaim this mission in all aspects of their life at work and
at home.
Volunteers are a special group of people and must be nurtured and recognized
as an important part of Pine Rest. Also, staff must recognize that a
volunteer's time is a gift and that a sense of belonging and a meaningful
volunteer position are essential.
The volunteer opportunities listed take place
in and around Pine Rest's main campus, 300 68th Street SE, Grand Rapids,
Michigan, and in West Michigan.

| Description: | | Volunteers in this program are being trained in the implementation of an intensive Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program for Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). The ABA program provides intensive ABA treatment techniques helping families and individuals apply these techniques throughout their daily lives. The volunteers are being trained to work as part of a team providing evaluation, treatment, and follow up services. Enrollment in and completion of required course work through the Florida Institute of Technology for ABA certification is expected. The volunteers are directly supervised by the ABA Clinical Team Leader. Completion of on line classes and assignments. Participate in ASD/TBI training and supervision. Participate in program development as appropriate. Undergraduate degree in related field (Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, Education). Actively involved in training regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders, guided clinical interventions, and applied behavioral analysis. Eventual certification as Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA) is expected. Dedicated to working in accordance with the organizational mission. Ability to work independently, self-motivated. Interest in research. Competent writing, word processing skills, and oral communication skills. Attendance at scheduled meetings. Completion of on-line course work.

The qualified volunteer would possess a high school diploma or GED. Be able to work independantly and have good customer service skills as well as good interpersonal communication skills and are willing to live our mission.
This individual will need to go through TB/drug and fingerprinting paid for by the organization and may need to take the course on verbal descalation / abbreviated CPI/NCI

The qualified volunteer would also manage a visitor log and hand out visitor badges as well as retrieve wheelchairs from units if none is available in the Contact Center. They may also provide hospitality such as coffee, water and/or snacks.
