Free Seminar: Developing A Comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention & Active Shooter System

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Service’s Employee Assistance/Church Assistance Program is pleased to announce it will host recognized experts Ken Wolf, PhD, and Marilyn Knight, MSW, from the Incident Management Team to present a seminar titled: Developing a Comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention and Active Shooter System.

This program will be held from 9 a.m. – noon on May 29, 2014, at the Postma Center on Pine Rest’s main campus. It is free of charge, but registration is needed by May 22 at www.pinerest.org/KenWolf.

While many companies, universities, schools, and churches are assessing how to prevent and manage active shooter situations, they often lack a well-developed internal workplace violence health and safety prevention program.

The Pine Rest program will reflect Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines in discussion of the policies, reporting systems, behavioral threat management team functions, and program structures which are the foundation for an effective violence prevention system. It will conclude by defining protective strategies to respond to active shooter events.

The Pine Rest Postma Center is located at 300 68th Street SE, Grand Rapids. All costs for this conference have been underwritten by Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, Miller Johnson and a grant from OSHA. Questions can be answered by calling 616.281.6363, extension 5753.
