Artist Sharon Featherly is the newest artist to be displayed at Pine Rest’s Postma Center Leep Art Gallery. Her exhibit, “Beauty for Ashes; A Grace Story,” will be displayed from July 16 through September 2013. The exhibit will be located in the Postma Center at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, 300 68th Street, Grand Rapids.
Growing up in a large family, drawing brought peace amongst chaos to Featherly. That ultimately led her to pursue an art degree from Aquinas College and later enroll at Kendall College of Art and Design for additional art courses. Even though she never completed her degree, she found that art always helped her through difficult times.
“The works in this show were never meant to be seen by anyone else, however at the encouragement of a good friend, I have begun sharing some of these devotional pieces. This is my first one person show. The journey involves times of anxiety, loss and heartache. It isn’t always easy, but God daily sustains me and blesses me,” Featherly says.
From July 16 through September 2013, come view Featherly’s exhibit at Pine Rest. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Additional times are available by appointment. There is no admission fee. For more information, please call 616/222-4530.
