Pine Rest Welcomes New Director Of Clinical Pastoral Education and Pastoral Services

Pine Rest is pleased to announce that the Rev. Frederic Koning, M. Div, Th. M., has joined the staff at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services as the director of clinical pastoral education, pastoral services and mission integration. Koning works at Pine Rest’s main campus at 300 68th St. in Grand Rapids.   Koning went to Dordt College where he earned his bachelors in sociology.  He received his masters of divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids.  Koning also has a master of theology from Regent College in Vancouver.   He is joining Pine Rest after many years of experience as a leader in pastoral care and clinical pastoral education. As director of clinical pastoral education at Providence Health Care in Vancouver, BC, Koning developed a nationally recognized clinical pastoral education program that had a maximum number of 42 students.    Koning also has served as senior chaplain and manager of the chaplaincy services at the University Health Network in Toronto, where he developed a volunteer spiritual and religious care visitor program at two hospitals.    He is also a medical ethicist.  Koning has presented at numerous conferences; is published and has participated in several research projects.
