Foundation Presents Lights, Camera, Recovery
A unique evening will be hosted
by the Pine Rest Foundation at Celebration! Cinema North on Sept. 13. The event, Lights, Camera,
Recovery, features Kurt Schemper, the Emmy Award winning Hollywood producer of
the A&E television show Intervention.
A Grand Rapids native, Schemper will premier clips of the reality show that
vividly portrays the trauma of addictions and the challenging path to recovery.
Schemper is eager to share
the message that addictions can be treated and recovery is possible. He
currently serves as supervising producer on the series. In 2009, he was a recipient of an Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality
Series for his work on the show.
He lives in Los
Angeles, Calif., with his wife Amy. He has been actively involved in the
entertainment business since first moving to Los Angeles in 1997.
Schemper is a graduate of Calvin Christian High School in
Grandville, Mich., and Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. Upon
graduation he traveled west in pursuit of a career in entertainment. His
television career began at the sitcom factory Carsey-Werner (That ‘70s Show, The Cosby Show) where he
oversaw post production work on all series.
He felt called
to Hollywood, and even there he openly communicates that his “deep gladness is
Jesus.” His personal story is inspiring and his program, Intervention, is thought provoking.
