Pine Rest is pleased to announce that psychiatrist Peter Longstreet, M.D., has joined the staff at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. Dr. Longstreet works at Pine Rest’s main campus at 300 68th Street in Grand Rapids. As a staff psychiatrist, Dr. Longstreet’s work includes treatment of adult psychiatric patients in hospital based services. Dr. Longstreet received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in neurobiology and philosophy, and his medical degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He completed his psychiatry residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, in 1993. For three years, Dr. Longstreet directed the freshman psychiatry course at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, PA. He conducted staff seminars and in-services at numerous facilities in medical and geriatric psychiatry. While working at the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution, Albion, PA, he taught seminars to staff on psychiatric disorders, as well as conducted weekly therapy groups for those inmates doing Life sentences and those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dr. Longstreet is a member of The American Medical Association and The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is board certified.
