Caring Communities began in 2001 as part of Pine Rest's
commitment to serve the poor and underserved. Our commitment is to
provide long-term resources by partnering with ministries and agencies
in urban Grand
Rapids. These partnerships offer care to those who are disadvantaged.
Past partnerships between Grand Rapids-area agencies and Caring Communities have allowed Pine Rest to reach out to the community, while
strengthening and improving services. Here are just a few of the success
stories:
- Degage Open Door - A safe haven for women in crisis, providing
support, counseling, and a connection to other community resources.
- Heartside Ministries - Counseling services to those living in
the Heartside neighborhood.
- Criminal Justice Chaplaincy - Healing through counseling and
life skills/educational groups for people involved in the criminal
justice system and their families.
