About Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services

Introduction: The Two Sides of Health
What some persons know about "therapy" is generally based on what is seen or heard in the current media and popular culture. In our society, we place a high priority on physical health. The media is filled with advice on how to eat, exercise, and prevent disease. Our nation has a vast health care system with almost miraculous capabilities.

There is, however, another side of health: mental health. The way our society deals with mental health is often different.

Unfortunately, many of us have only a sketchy knowledge of the mind and emotions. We don't know where to seek mental health care or whether it will be effective. In contrast to physical health care, mental health care can seem like a gray area.

Underneath the perceptions, the two sides of health are not so different. Most mental health problems are highly treatable. Today, mental health professionals have a wide array of effective treatments for once-mysterious problems. Where can you gain access to these treatments, provided by certified, experienced professionals? In West Michigan and well beyond, the answer is Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
At Pine Rest, we provide a full continuum of care, offered in virtually any setting or location. That means when you come to us for help, you are assured of receiving all the care you need, no matter what form it takes. Whether it's inpatient care, outpatient care, partial hospitalization care, or home visits, we will see you through.

We've developed these comprehensive capabilities over generations stretching back to 1910. Today, we are set in a beautiful, 200-acre wooded campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. With the region's largest staff of psychiatrists working with nurses, psychologists, social workers, educators, and clergy, Pine Rest is the regional center to which other organizations and professionals refer patients for the very best care.

Yet Pine Rest is also personal and supportive. We care about our patients. Each of us is here because we want to serve others. We are dedicated to providing treatment founded on respect for the individual.

Making Contact with Pine Rest
We believe seeking mental health care should be easy. At Pine Rest, it is. Clinicians at our Contact Center will take your call, answer your questions, and assess your needs. Their first concern is what's best for you. Using their broad knowledge of mental health care in the region, our clinicians will guide you to a service within Pine Rest or, if appropriate, elsewhere. Whatever your needs, the Contact Center gives you access to help that's just right for you. You can reach the Contact Center 24 hours a day at (616) 455-9200.

Restoring Lives, Renewing Spirits
This expresses our reason for being. To us, there is no more rewarding work than restoring hope and balance to a life. Since our beginnings, we've been a nonprofit organization dedicated to our community. Our promise is to provide the finest professional services to people of all faiths and walks of life, to respect all individuals, and to embody Christian ethics and values.

A Story of Cooperation: The Pine Rest Network
Our work extends far beyond our campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. By working with other health care providers, service organizations, educators, and clergy, we can design the right treatment approach for each patient. Our satellite clinics bring Pine Rest outpatient care to people throughout west and southwest Michigan and central Iowa. And always, when you receive care from Pine Rest, our professionals work in partnership with your own doctors or counselors.
