Thavone I. Huinil, LMSW, CAADC
Thavone graduated from Western Michigan University with both a Bachelor and Masters in Social Work. Her undergraduate work was in the elementary school as a behavioral specialist. Her interest in children grew and she stayed in the school systems until receiving her Master’s in Social Work.
Thavone’s Masters level internship was with the severely mentally ill and disabled population. God touched her heart to work with this population for the next five years before moving on. In the last few years, her clinical work surrounded primarily around substance abuse evaluations and treatment, and a variety of mental health issues, particularly anger management. She enjoys working with all diverse groups; individuals, couples, families, and adolescents.
Thavone’s experience ranges from case management services, community outreach, crisis intervention, group therapy, outpatient, substance abuse, and mental health counseling as well as providing mental health and substance abuse education to all varied populations. She also has experience in collaborating with the psychiatric and medical hospitals as well as the court system and child welfare system.
Thavone is trained in Cross Cultural Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Substance Abuse and Motivational Interviewing. She also received her CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and ICAADC (Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor).
Thavone is married with four children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends; as well as gardening, traveling, cooking diverse dishes, playing tennis, listening to music and being in God’s natural wonders.
